Lionel Kieseritzky

Born 1805

Lionel Kieseritzky was a Baltic German chess master based at the Café de la Régence in Paris, one of the strongest players of the 1840s. He is remembered as the losing side of the Immortal Game — a game he himself telegraphed to Paris and published.
